Mara Clothing was established in December 2014 in a spare room by founder Michelle Urquhart.

Mara is developed for adventures, from the mountains and beyond. Our passion is the outdoors; we feel our products represent that. All of our products are designed in BC, while many of them are handmade and printed in Kamloops.

Handmade Goods Since 2014

With a background in Fashion and Costume construction, Michelle envisioned blending creativity with practicality. Inspired by snowboard culture and the perpetual need for a hood in Scotland, she created Mara's first product: the hooded scarf. This marked the beginning of a journey that included naming the brand, designing a logo, ordering labels, and establishing a distinctive identity.

Choosing a name was straightforward—Mara, named after a lake in the Southern Interior of British Columbia. The logo, a collaborative effort between Michelle and her brother, features trees that symbolize the seasons: winter (snow-covered), mid-season (half snow), and summer (no snow). This design reflects the brand's connection to nature and its commitment to versatile, all-season apparel.
